Am I able to host my site with Cambria?

Absolutely! Cambria started the hosting aspect of our business because so many of our clients had problems with their hosting companies, trusted us, and wanted to be able to call one number for all of their web needs.

The Pros: By keeping your site on our servers, you are guaranteed the same service that you received while your site was being developed. You know us by name and know that we will drop everything to help you out. It is one-stop shopping.

The Con: Because Cambria is a small company, we do not offer round-the-clock customer support found at some larger hosting companies. So, a late-night crash of our web server might mean that your site will be down through the night. Of course, we would fix any problems first thing the next morning. That said, Cambria's servers are highly stable, and our prices often are lower than those of major hosting companies.

What does hosting with Cambria include?

Hosting with Cambria comes with quality hosting, reliable backups, and detailed virus protection. We also provide the following products at no extra charge.

ASPUpload ASPUpload is a powerful upload component that provides better performance than most upload components.

For our store customers, this is how your product images are uploaded into the database.
For customers using Active Server Pages programming who will be uploading documents, images, graphics, etc into their database or document management system.
ASPImage AspImage allows you to create or modify images "on the fly." Features include: create new or modify existing images, add text and images transparently, create gradient fills, crop, flip, resize and rotate images, etc.

For our store customers, this is how your product images are sized to the proper dimensions without skewing the aspect ratio.

For customers using Active Server Pages programming who will be resizing jpeg/jpg and bitmap/bmp images.
activePDF Toolkit activePDF allows you to create dynamic PDF files using database information.

For our store customers, this is how your invoices are created. The invoices include your logo and can be sent to your customers with their orders.

For customers requiring a dynamic PDF document.

Am I able to host my site elsewhere?

Of course. We will be happy to move your site to anywhere you'd like. If your hosting company knows what they are doing and has set everything up properly, the moving process usually takes about a half hour. This cost is included in your Cambria Store's purchase price.

However, we have run into instances where the hosting company forgot to set up the SQL database, etc. These instances will definitely take more than a half hour and can not be predicted. Anything over a half hour is charged at our normal hourly rates of $140 per hour.

Your new hosting company must have the below programs to run exactly as it was written and demonstrated. Please keep in mind as you read through the specifications that hosting with Cambria costs $600 per year ($50 per month).

This is the type of server this program was written for. Active Server Pages comes free with this server, but your hosting company may not support programming languages on their servers.

Toolkit store pages are all under 10 MB. Custom store pages will vary, since the design of each one is different. However, all of our custom stores are under 20 MB.
We can rewrite the program in another programming language for another type of server.

The original store cost about $40,000 to write, so another programming language could cost around $20,000-$40,000.
Front Page Server Extensions
and FTP access
These will help us log into your hosting company and install the pages for you. We can work with your hosting company and find another way to put your pages up for you.
Microsoft SQL Server
database
This is the database the program was written for.

Most of our store customers' databases are approximately 50 MB. This is a good starting database size with your hosting provider, but make sure that you check with them to see if your database can grow with you.
We can rewrite the code to use a different database. Depending upon the database your hosting provider supports (Microsoft Access, mySQL, etc), we can estimate this for you.

To rewrite it in Microsoft Access will take approximately 2 hours or $280.
ASPUpload This is how your product images are uploaded into the database. Check with your hosting company and see if they can purchase and install this program. ASPUpload currently costs $149.

If they cannot purchase and install this program for you, we can rewrite the upload code to not use this product. It will take approximately 1.5 hours to do. At our normal hourly rates of $140, that will cost $210.
ASPImage This is how your product images are sized to the proper dimensions without skewing the aspect ratio. Check with your hosting company and see if they can purchase and install this program. ASPImage currently costs $70.

If they cannot purchase and install this program for you, there is no other program that can do this for you. You or a staff member will have to resize all of the images to the proper dimentions by hand, using a program like Adobe Photoshop.
activePDF Toolkit This is how your dynamic invoices are created. The invoices include your logo and can be sent to your customers with their orders. Check with your hosting company and see if they can purchase and install this program. activePDF Toolkit currently costs $325.

If they cannot purchase and install this program for you, we can create a browser-based invoice that will only work in Internet Explorer. You or a staff member could also export your shopping cart data and create your invoices with another program like Microsoft Word with the Mail Merge feature.
